Bio
Julia is originally from Boston, MA and was drawn to women's health and caring for women from a young age. After completing her undergraduate degree in Women's Studies from Tufts University, she then became a birth doula in 2016. Through this experience or attending births as a doula, she realized that midwifery was eventually the path she would take.
Julia later moved to Atlanta to attend Emory University for nursing, and spent time working as a labor and delivery nurse before completing her nurse-midwifery training also from Emory. She has had a diversity of experiences as a nurse and midwife in both low risk, holistic and concierge settings as well as high risk and more traditional hospital practices.
As a midwife she is driven by her aspiration to provide compassionate care for families and birthing parents, as well as the emotional support she can give during these transformative times of labor and birth. She believes birth can be empowering and seeks to help birthing parents feel empowered and strong during the labor and birth process. She also values patient education, shared-decision making and patient autonomy throughout prenatal care and labor.
Outside of midwifery, Julia gets to enjoy time with her wonderful husband and two cats, as well as cooking new meals, running, and learning Spanish!
