Laurie is an Atlanta native, having grown up in the Sandy Springs area. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1989 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science. She earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Kennesaw State University in 1992 and went on to complete her Master’s in Nursing from Emory University in 1997. She is licensed as an Advanced Practice – Certified Nurse Midwife. Laurie started her midwifery career at Peachtree Women’s Clinic and was there from 1998-2002. As of June 2017, she has “returned home.” Laurie has years of both OB and GYN experience and has a passion for caring for women throughout their entire lifespan, from teenage through menopause.

Laurie comes from a very large, close-knit family where she spends much of her time. She also enjoys all outdoor activities and sports, especially football and running. She is on the Atlanta Track Club Masters Elite Competitive Team and travels all over the United States for races, including USATF National Championship Races.
