Childbirth education classes are recommended for all first-time moms and dads. While there is no specific time during the pregnancy you need to attend this class, many women enroll after 24 weeks.
Childbirth classes are held monthly in the Alpharetta office, usually the first Saturday of the month, and generally last from 9AM to 3PM with a break for lunch. There is also ample time for snack breaks and time to stretch your legs. The class format is very informal and we encourage questions and participation. You may want a small pillow for back support and you are welcome to bring any snacks or drinks you would like. A morning snack will be provided. There are also several restaurants close by for lunch. Remember your water bottle!
Classes are typically scheduled for the first Saturday of every month. If you have any questions about the class or would like to sign up, please call the Peachtree Women’s Clinic Alpharetta office at (770) 255-0306 or Click here to email.
The focus of the class is to prepare you for the last months of pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum, choosing a pediatrician, and pain relief choices while in labor. While we will cover some relaxation techniques, this class is not designed to prepare you for an unmedicated birth. Understanding more about labor and birth helps to make the whole experience more relaxing and less intimidating!
Topics covered include:
- The language of labor & delivery
- Vaginal delivery
- Cesarean Section
- Relaxation Techniques
- Stages of labor
- True vs. false labor
- What happens after delivery?
- Alternatives to epidurals
- Normal newborn care
The class fee is $100 and reservations are required. Payment is required at the time of reservation and may be made by check, cash or credit card. If you have any questions about the class or would like to sign up, please call the Peachtree Women’s Clinic Alpharetta office at (770) 255-0306 or Click here to email.
Requests for change of date can be made any time on a space available basis, there are no refunds for missing your scheduled class.
